The last time you drove through an urban area, did you notice any neighborhoods that had been negatively impacted by urban blight and decay. Were there houses - maybe even entire blocks - that were vacant and boarded up? Did you notice streets where no family would ever want to raise children or call home? I certainly have, and every time I do it makes me sad.
Have you ever wondered what happens to all those homes, why some savvy investor doesn't talk to the city and negotiate a really low price, then go in and rehabilitate the streets and neighborhoods, providing clean, safe, affordable housing for working families? It wouldn't be that hard would it? All it would take would be some capital, which is tough but not impossible to come by.
It would take a commitment to socially responsible real estate investing, and it would take a visionary man or company who was as concerned about the cities and neighborhoods where the homes were located as they were about making a profit. Somebody like that could accomplish a great deal, couldn't they?
What if they took it a step further? What if this visionary company created an investing partnership program, allowing everyday investors like you and me to participate, using either cash or available retirement savings accounts, or even just our good credit?
It seems like that could work, doesn't it? It seems as though, using these simple tactics, whole new markets could be created in cities across our country, providing awesome opportunities for working families to live in clean, safe, affordable housing. It would also provide tremendous potential profits for investors interested not only in socially conscious investing, but also in a healthy return on investment. And, it would have the capacity to turn entire streets, entire blocks, entire neighborhoods, and even entire cities around for the good.
You might be surprised to learn that this is already happening in city after city, for family after family, through investor after investor. You might also be surprised to learn that there's a role almost everyone can play, and an opportunity almost everyone can take advantage of.
If things like reviving older neighborhoods, turning tenants into buyers, creating affordable homes for working families, double digit ROI, and changing your family's financial future are interesting to you, you may be wise to look more closely at Socially Responsible Real Estate Investing.
